Taking steps...

Progress has been slow at 'the project'  due to us having (fortunately) a busy rental season with the houses plus life (?) getting in the way but I managed a little bit this week. I have cast the steps necessary to link the landing to the new entrance to what will be a bedroom in the old 'grenier'.

First light...

We welcomed new guests from Toronto to 'Le Bourg' on Sunday on a day that had the weather playing some odd tricks...rain then sunshine then torrential rain then sunshine again! At one stage it was so gloomy that we decided to light the wood burner to bring a feeling of warmth into the house.

However as we awaited their arrival it picked up again with the light changing things for the better!

On your bike...in Southern Touraine

cyclists coming through Barrou in Southern Touraine

We greeted more keen cyclists at 'Les Balcons' on Saturday looking forward to taking in the beautiful local countryside of Southern Touraine. The Loire Valley here in France offers such a diverse landscape that cycling is one of the most popular activities. From river valleys to undulating countryside with pleasant surprises around almost ever corner.

Patrimoine Sunday...a good day to visit churches

This Sunday as part of the 'Journees du Patrimoine' weekend is a good time to visit any church you may pass en-route to some other visit as many that would normally be locked are likely to be open today and some will have parts of the church open that would not be accessible to you.

The above pic is of St Paul's in Chambon

Remember also today you can visit the Chateaux at Azay-le-Rideau and Cande free of charge.

Weather forecasting...

With guests arriving at our vacation rentals in Le Grand Pressigny today and Barrou tomorrow we had been keeping our eye on the weather forecast for the weekend with 'Meteo' giving a rather gloomy picture...but as with Friday, when they were predicting thunderstorms, they seem to have gotten it wrong! Based on their forecast we had decided not to venture too far on Friday but chose to have lunch in nearby Lesigny with friends instead. As you can see from the above pic it was a lovely day. Lunch in restaurant 'L'ere du temps' (rabbit) was of a good quality and value.
